Today was an end to our group tour. John and Gail flew to Jaipur, Karen and Tara
are headed to Delhi with Karen heading on back to the US, and we boarded a
plane for Khajuraho. The flight was only
35 minutes but the still managed to hand out mini‑three layer club
sandwiches. They weren’t too bad.
We were at the hotel by early afternoon and checked into
the hotel just ahead of a bus load of Chinese tourists. The hotel was also setting up for a large
wedding celebration in a large garden area.
After a bit of a rest we headed in to Old Khajaraho for a walking
tour.
The old village is set up with four sections, one for each
of the old Indian castes. Each section
has its own well and the town has a center where everyone can meet and
mingle. Many of the houses were painted
with bright colors for the Diwali festival.
The village was very clean with minimal trash…which was
new for us in India.
After some additional time in the hotel (where we saw
more wedding preparations) we headed out to a roof top Italian Restaurant
recommended to us by our guide. The food
was very good and tasted like authentic Italian. The only thing marring the experience was the
loud speakers blaring music (related to a wedding) that was parked just
across the street from where we were eating.
We also went to a very interesting and colorful cultural show with much singing, dancing and playing of instruments.

We got back to the hotel just in time to see the groom arrive at the wedding ceremony in a shiny carriage drawn by two white horses.

After a few pictures we headed to the room only to run into the bride, who let us take a picture of her.
We have an early morning so we crashed early.
