Wed, Nov 4: Amritsar to Delhi

We got to sleep in today, had a leisurely breakfast, and finished repacking.  The views from the hotel were terrible as the smog appeared to be much worse today than previous days (or maybe there was some fog thrown into the mix).  We then got a text from Tara that our flight was delayed a couple hours.

Once we arrived at the airport we waited a while then went to security.  You can tell this isn’t the US.  We were allowed to take partial bottles of water through security.  We were flying on Air India and as compensation for the delay we were given box snacks.  They included a muffin, cookies, box of mango juice and a coleslaw sandwich (don’t laugh, it was actually pretty good).  Then on the plane they gave us a food tray that included fruit, croissant (with ketchup – they seem to eat ketchup with everything) and a small chocolate cake.  You could definitely tell it was not a US carrier…too much free food.

We were met at the airport by one of Tara’s guides and headed to the hotel…a Taj property.  We have a very nice room with balcony, sitting area and large king-sized bed.  At 10:45pm our door bell (yes, many rooms have doorbells) rang with a bell-man wishing us happy anniversary and carrying a lovely cake.  Unfortunately, it was not our anniversary so he went off to find the correct room.
